The Comprehensive Wellness Profile (CWP) + Cardio IQ® Advanced Lipid Panel panel contains 8 tests with 70 biomarkers .
Brief Description: The Comprehensive Wellness Profile (CWP) + Cardio IQ® Advanced Lipid Panel is an extensive health screening tool that combines general wellness checks with advanced cardiovascular risk assessment. This panel includes fundamental health evaluations like a Complete Blood Count with Differential and Platelets, a Comprehensive Metabolic Panel, and Total Iron, alongside specialized cardiovascular tests like the Cardio IQ® Apolipoprotein B, Cardio IQ® Lipid Panel, Cardio IQ® Lipoprotein (a), and Cardio IQ® Lipoprotein Fractionation, Ion Mobility. It also assesses thyroid function through the Thyroid Stimulating Hormone test.
Collection Method: Blood Draw
Specimen Type: Whole Blood and Serum
Test Preparation: Fasting for at least 12 hours prior to collection is required. Collection should be done in the morning.
Specific to TSH: Specimen collection after fluorescein dye angiography should be delayed for at least 3 days. For patients on hemodialysis, specimen collection should be delayed for 2 weeks.
According to the assay manufacturer Siemens: "Samples containing fluorescein can produce falsely depressed values when tested with the Advia Centaur TSH3 Ultra assay."
When and Why the CWP + Cardio IQ® Advanced Lipid Panel May Be Ordered
This panel is typically ordered for individuals at risk of cardiovascular diseases, those with a family history of heart disease, or patients with existing health conditions that might affect heart health. It's also relevant for those seeking a comprehensive health overview to identify potential health issues early and implement preventive measures.
What the CWP + Cardio IQ® Advanced Lipid Panel Checks For
- Cardio IQ® Apolipoprotein B: Measures Apolipoprotein B, a primary component of LDL cholesterol, which is a critical factor in assessing cardiovascular risk.
- Complete Blood Count with Differential and Platelets: Evaluates overall blood health by examining red and white blood cells and platelets, crucial for detecting anemia, infections, and blood clotting disorders.
- Comprehensive Metabolic Panel: Provides insights into various aspects of body metabolism, including liver and kidney function, electrolyte balance, and glucose levels.
- Iron Total: Assesses the total iron in the bloodstream, helping in the diagnosis of anemia or iron overload conditions.
- Cardio IQ® Lipid Panel: Offers a detailed analysis of cholesterol levels, including HDL, LDL, and triglycerides, which are key indicators of cardiovascular health.
- Cardio IQ® Lipoprotein (a): Measures Lipoprotein (a) levels, an independent risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, providing additional insights beyond traditional lipid tests.
- Cardio IQ® Lipoprotein Fractionation, Ion Mobility: Delivers an advanced breakdown of lipoprotein particles, enhancing the understanding of cardiovascular risk beyond standard lipid measurements.
- Thyroid Stimulating Hormone: Screens for thyroid function abnormalities, which can influence metabolic rate and impact cardiovascular health.
Conditions and Diseases Detected by the CWP + Cardio IQ® Advanced Lipid Panel
This comprehensive panel can help in the detection and management of a wide array of conditions:
- Cardiovascular Diseases: Advanced lipid tests provide a deep dive into cardiovascular risk, identifying predispositions to heart disease and stroke.
- Anemia and Blood Disorders: The CBC can reveal anemia and other blood-related issues, while iron tests further clarify the type and cause.
- Metabolic Disorders: The CMP can detect signs of diabetes, liver disease, and kidney dysfunction.
- Thyroid Disorders: Abnormal TSH levels can indicate hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, affecting overall metabolic health.
Using the CWP + Cardio IQ® Advanced Lipid Panel Results in Clinical Practice
Healthcare professionals utilize the results from this panel to:
- Diagnose Conditions: Identifying specific health issues such as thyroid disorders, anemia, or potential risk factors for cardiovascular diseases.
- Tailor Treatment Plans: Based on detected abnormalities, such as implementing lifestyle changes, prescribing medications, or further specialized testing.
- Monitor Health and Treatment Efficacy: Tracking changes in key markers over time to assess the impact of treatment regimens and lifestyle modifications on health outcomes.
The Comprehensive Wellness Profile (CWP) + Cardio IQ® Advanced Lipid Panel offers a holistic view of an individual's health, combining essential wellness checks with in-depth cardiovascular risk assessments.
