The following is a list of what is included in the item above. Click the test(s) below to view what biomarkers are measured along with an explanation of what the biomarker is measuring.
Also known as: CBC, CBC includes Differential and Platelets, CBC/PLT w/DIFF, Complete Blood Count (includes Differential and Platelets)
NOTE: Ulta Lab Tests provides CBC test results from Quest Diagnostics as they are reported. Often, different biomarker results are made available at different time intervals. When reporting the results, Ulta Lab Tests denotes those biomarkers not yet reported as 'pending' for every biomarker the test might report. Only biomarkers Quest Diagnostics observes are incorporated and represented in the final CBC test results provided by Ulta Lab Tests.

The Comprehensive Wellness Profile (CWP) + Vit D panel contains 6 tests with 72 biomarkers .
Brief Description: The Comprehensive Wellness Profile (CWP) + Vit D is an expanded health screening panel that combines a broad spectrum of tests to assess overall health, organ function, and nutritional status. This panel includes a Complete Blood Count with Differential and Platelets, Comprehensive Metabolic Panel, Total Iron, Lipid Panel with Ratios, Thyroid Stimulating Hormone, and a specific test for Vitamin D levels (QuestAssureD 25-Hydroxyvitamin D Total with D2 and D3). It's designed to give a holistic view of an individual's health, from blood cell health and metabolic function to cardiovascular risk, thyroid function, and vitamin D status.
Collection Method: Blood Draw
Specimen Type: Whole Blood and Serum
Test Preparation: The patient should be fasting 9-12 hours prior to collection and collection should be done in the morning.
Specific to TSH: Specimen collection after fluorescein dye angiography should be delayed for at least 3 days. For patients on hemodialysis, specimen collection should be delayed for 2 weeks.
According to the assay manufacturer Siemens: "Samples containing fluorescein can produce falsely depressed values when tested with the Advia Centaur TSH3 Ultra assay."
When and Why the Comprehensive Wellness Profile (CWP) + Vit D May Be Ordered
This panel is often ordered as part of a routine health examination, especially for individuals with a lack of sun exposure, dietary restrictions, or those at risk for or suffering from bone health issues, immune disorders, or chronic illnesses. It's also crucial for monitoring the health status of those with known conditions that could impact or be impacted by vitamin D levels, such as osteoporosis, certain cancers, and autoimmune diseases.
What the Comprehensive Wellness Profile (CWP) + Vit D Checks For
- Complete Blood Count with Differential and Platelets: This test evaluates the number, variety, and health of blood cells, including red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. It's essential for diagnosing conditions such as anemia, infections, clotting disorders, and blood cancers.
- Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP): The CMP offers a snapshot of the body's chemical balance and metabolism, including liver and kidney function, blood sugar and protein levels, and electrolyte and fluid balance. It can help diagnose diabetes, liver disease, and kidney disease.
- Total Iron: This test measures the amount of iron in the blood to assess iron deficiency or overload, providing crucial information for diagnosing anemia and other iron-related disorders.
- Lipid Panel with Ratios: This panel measures total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides. It's used to assess the risk of heart disease and to monitor lipid-lowering therapies.
- Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH): TSH testing is a primary tool for evaluating thyroid function and diagnosing thyroid disorders such as hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism.
- QuestAssureD 25-Hydroxyvitamin D Total with D2 and D3: This test measures the level of vitamin D, which is crucial for bone health, immune function, and overall well-being. It can diagnose vitamin D deficiency, which can lead to bone disorders and has been linked to a range of chronic diseases.
Conditions and Diseases Detected by the Comprehensive Wellness Profile (CWP) + Vit D
This comprehensive panel can help detect a wide range of health issues:
- Anemia and Blood Disorders: Indicated by abnormalities in the CBC, such as low hemoglobin or hematocrit levels.
- Liver and Kidney Diseases: Suggested by altered enzyme levels or waste product concentrations in the CMP.
- Thyroid Disorders: Detected through abnormal TSH levels, pointing to underactive or overactive thyroid function.
- Cardiovascular Risks: Assessed by the lipid panel, with high cholesterol or imbalanced ratios indicating increased risk.
- Vitamin D Deficiency or Insufficiency: Identified through the vitamin D test, which can contribute to bone disorders, immune system dysfunctions, and chronic diseases.
Using the Comprehensive Wellness Profile (CWP) + Vit D Results in Clinical Practice
Healthcare professionals leverage the results from this panel to:
- Diagnose Health Conditions: Utilizing abnormalities in test results to identify issues like anemia, liver and kidney diseases, thyroid disorders, and vitamin D deficiency.
- Guide Treatment Plans: Based on detected deficiencies or dysfunctions, such as supplementing vitamin D for deficiency or adjusting medications for thyroid disorders.
- Monitor Disease Progression: Tracking changes in blood counts, metabolic panel results, and vitamin D levels over time to assess the effectiveness of treatments and interventions.
The Comprehensive Wellness Profile (CWP) + Vit D is a valuable tool in preventive health care and the management of various conditions, offering a detailed snapshot of an individual's health status. By encompassing tests for blood health, metabolic function, cardiovascular risk, thyroid activity, and vitamin D status, this panel facilitates early detection of potential health issues, supports informed treatment decisions, and aids in the monitoring of ongoing health conditions, contributing to comprehensive patient care and wellness.
