No. You do not need to see a physician to get a lab test through your pharmacy or to order directly on through Ulta Lab Tests. We enable you directly order lab tests through our healthcare professional network, using the same labs as healthcare providers and hospitals, which are CLIA certified and regulated by government agencies. We help you save time and money and you get the same lab results that you can share with your doctor or healthcare provider.
Ulta Lab Tests does not bill insurance directly. However, your patient receipt includes the "CPT Codes” that most insurance companies require for reimbursement. You may submit this receipt along with your insurance provider's claim form and if approved the amount you paid may be applied towards your deductible or direct reimbursement based on your benefits plan.
(Note: When insurance is used, the provider may have the right and may request any results be reported and therefore become part of your medical records with your insurance provider. Ulta Lab Tests does not report your results to your insurance provider).
No. We have negotiated discounted cash prices with national laboratories; therefore, direct access lab testing cannot be submitted to Medicare or Medicaid. Medicare often covers lab-testing services; however, if Medicare declares that a lab test is not "medically necessary" or that it exceeds an annual limit (is being taken too often), you still have the option to order your medical lab tests from Ulta Lab Tests. You will have to pay for your lab work in advance, and Medicare will not reimburse you for the testing; however, by having Ulta Lab Tests perform the testing, seniors will save valuable dollars from their fixed incomes.
We have implemented industry best practices and controls, including state of the art technology that minimizes our company's overhead. The result is superior customer service while providing our patients quick, accurate and secure test results that keep costs low so that we can pass along those savings to you.
We have affiliated with your pharmacy to extend our national pricing and platform into their practice so that their patients can benefit with the cost savings of our program.
We purchase on extremely high testing volumes for patients across the United States which allows us to offer discount pricing with our national lab partners. Additionally, we have negotiated prompt payment with the National laboratories and removed all excess costs. Securing advance payment from our customers enables our company to secure exceptional costs from the national laboratories and we pass these savings directly on to our customers.
All specimens are analyzed at CLIA certified laboratories.
Currently, New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island state laws prohibit direct-access testing. Our lab tests cannot be conducted at lab locations located within these states.
Lab results, including the Ulta Wellness Panels are typically available 1-3 business days after a blood draw has been completed. You will be notified via email once your results are available. Occasionally, complex test results can take between 7-10 business days.

Abnormalities should be considered an early warning, but do not necessarily mean you have an illness or disease. We strongly recommend that you discuss your results with your healthcare provider for evaluation, further testing and diagnosis.
We will provide additional communication to alert you should our national laboratory identify that your results are abnormal with a critical or panic value requiring immediate medical care. We will also provide additional communication to alert you should your lab test results be positive for communicable diseases.
Most of the individual lab tests offered require no preparation. However, many of our health and wellness panels do require fasting. If there are special requirements prior to testing, (i.e. such as fasting for up to 12 hours), you will be notified in the Patient Instructions located on your PSC Lab Test Requisition.
We have organized our lab tests in groupings ranging from Conditions to Lifestyle and we have provided filters to help you evaluate hundreds of lab tests and panels that may be of benefit to you.
Additionally, we list each of the biomarkers so that you can compare in detail and compare the tests offered in the grouping of tests found in Test Panels.
We also recommend that you consult with your physician or healthcare provider.
No. It is common to order multiple lab tests off of one blood draw; where there is just one needle stick.
Yes. You should always take medicine that has been prescribed by a physician. Please reference your Patient Instructions on your Lab Test Requisition for any exception to this rule or other special requirements.
